History

Caputo's Fresh Markets originally opened in 1958 in Elmwood Park, Illinois as Caputo's New Farm Produce and Italian Specialties.  In a very competitive marketplace Angelo Caputo, our founder, identified a unique niche offering customers quality fruits and vegetables at very competitive prices accompanied with outstanding customer service.  A simple business strategy of importing volumes of authentic specialty items from around the world and passing the savings on to our customers still holds true today.

In 1991 the customer demand for another Caputo's Fresh Markets warranted a new location in Addison, IL.  The family expanded, building upon the foundation that Angelo created.  The Addison location became a tremendous success.  In 1996 expansion was continued with the addition of the Hanover Park location.  Following a strong commitment to serving our customers in a diverse variety of demographic locations a fourth location in Bloomingdale, IL opened in November of 2004 Our newest location is in Naperville, IL which opened on November 8, 2006.

As a family owned and operated business, Caputo's Fresh Markets, "Imitated by many, duplicated by none," continues to be The Leader in a very competitive marketplace.  From our very own line of La Bella Romana products to a variety of ethnic items, we continue to raise the standard of excellence.  As a pioneer and leader at the forefront of the Independent Grocery Industry, we will continue the tradition and passion that Angelo created many years ago.  Gaining the support of our customers through our quality products, value pricing, and customer service that surpasses what is expected are among the key components to our continued success.
