You may be wondering about our line of products under the brand name La Bella Romana.
Translation: La = The Bella = Beautiful Romana = Mrs. Caputo, Angelo's wife and life partner |

The tale reads like a great novel. Angelo came to the United States at the age of 18, worked for a while, struggled, and returned to Italy. There he met and married his beautiful wife, Romana. When Angelo was 23 years old, he returned to the United States with his wife and began to build Caputo's Fresh Markets. This time he had the support of a dedicated partner, Romana. |

Together they built the most successful neighborhood markets in Chicago (Voted by Chicago Magazine as..."Chicago's Best Neighborhood Fresh Market"). |

Romana and Angelo |
With the success of the markets, Angelo began to import his own line of pastas, meats, oils, and other Italian specialties. Soon afterward, he opened the bakery and catering service. To honor his wife, Angelo named the entire line after her with the brand name La Bella Romana or "The Beautiful Romana".

Sadly, Romana Caputo passed away in 2004, however she has left us with so much. She was the Caputo family matriarch and still lives on in our hearts and homes. |
| She is helping make dinner in thousands of homes tonight. Cookies from La Bella Romana Bakery are comforting a child after a long day at school. La Bella Romana Catering is providing the food for a new baby's baptism celebration. A young couple is dining at a La Bella Romana Cucina, one of our in-store restaurants. Perhaps they are planning their future. |

She lives on in everything we do. She is truly La Bella Romana. |
